Liability, HIPPA, Sarbanes-Oxley and other privacy concerns are driving more mailers to integrate vision and integrity technology into their operation to ensure they are doing everything possible to keep another individuals information from going into the wrong envelope. Many customers are demanding that printers and mailers have integrity systems installed to ensure accuracy and that every piece is being produced as expected with a verified audit trail and automated reports.

Vision and automated Integrity solutions act as a 3rd party auditor and give you the level of integrity you need. However, not all vision systems are equal. Vision solutions are as different as automobiles and so are the options and quality of components utilized. While some mailers only want to scan at the end of the inserter to ensure that every piece is in sequence, others want to be able to match multiple documents, do piece level tracking, split jobs over multiple inserters or record every scanned image to their database for archival or proof of processing.

Vision systems utilize either area scan cameras to capture a specific area of approximately 2"x3" or line scan cameras which can capture and entire envelope or document. Line scan solutions are used when you need or want to look at several regions of interest at once. A typical application would be to scan an entire envelope to ensure the postage stamp or Indicia is present, IMB is readable and to USPS specifications, outgoing and return address blocks are present, other barcodes are readable and a logo is present. A typical application for an area scan camera would be to read a symbology such as a 2D barcode for match mailings or end of process scanning. Some solutions require a combination of both types of cameras.

DDS' state of the art vision technology can give you many options that others cannot. DDS utilizes both area scan and line scan cameras in its solutions. We have the ability to record every scanned image to your MS-SQL database, network multiple systems together so large jobs can be split, identify individual missing or duplicate pieces, identify pieces needing to be pulled from processing and give reports in PDF format. DDS also provides custom programming for your unique requirements. DDS has provided custom integrity solutions to nearly 85 percent of its customers.

DDS believes that service after the sale is critical. DDS has developed "ServiceinSeconds" that allows our customers to click a button and connect through the internet directly with our service technicians or programmers to help resolve any issues or do additional training.
