The Mailing & Fulfillment Service Association (MFSA) announced that its board of directors has appointed Ken Garner as the association's chief executive officer and president. Garner had been with United Litho, an operating division within The Sheridan Group, for 33 years. For the past 15 years, he served as president and COO, and was most recently vice president of business development for Sheridan Magazine Services.
Connie Hill, MFSA's chair, said, "Ken is bringing a unique perspective to the association. Having climbed
the ladder from delivery driver to president in a print and mail organization, Ken can relate to our members
at every level. Ken's vision for our association to become an indispensable partner to its members is in
complete alignment with the MFSA's board of directors. Our membership is quite diverse and our focus
is to bring value to each and every MFSA member."
With his ability to effectively lead individuals and groups to optimize performance, Garner brings a wealth of knowledge and integrity to the position. He said, "I am tremendously excited to begin my new career with MFSA. The current rate and pace of change initiated by the USPS provides our association with the unique opportunity to become the indispensable source of education and training for our members. I look forward to working with our staff and board to develop a compelling value proposition that will ensure our members are able to leverage the changing environment to their advantage."
Garner succeeds David Weaver, who served as the association's CEO/president for 20 years.
Leo Raymond, who served for four months as interim president said, "As Ken transitions into his new position,
we on the MFSA staff look forward to supporting him in continuing the exciting changes that have been put in place
over the past few months." Raymond will continue working with the association as director of postal affairs, a
position he has held for nearly six years, and will be engaging in new assignments yet to be determined.
Garner served as chairman of the board for both the Environmental Conservation Board, as well as the National Association of Printing Leadership. In addition, he has sat on the board for the Graphic Arts Education & Research Foundation, Graphic Arts Show Corporation, Virginia Printing Foundation, Printing Industries of Virginia, and was a founding director of the Print Council.
