Cites strong focus on service excellence and employee development

Postmaster General Jack Potter today announced the selection of Kathleen Ainsworth as Vice President, Delivery and Retail. In her new role, she is responsible for delivery, retail and vehicle operations involving nearly 37,000 Post Offices, stations and branches.

"Delivery and retail operations are two areas offering the organization tremendous opportunity in cost management, growth and enhanced customer access as we continue our transformation and begin our transition to a business environment redefined by the recently enacted new postal law," Potter said. "I am confident Kathy can provide the leadership that will contribute to even greater success in these essential elements of our business."

Ainsworth has acted in this position since September 2006 and previously served as District Manager and Lead Executive of the Cleveland-based Northern Ohio Performance Cluster. In a career spanning more than 32 years, she has gained extensive knowledge and experience in customer service and finance operations.

Ainsworth began her career as a mail handler in Missoula, Montana, in 1974. She later served, among other positions, as San Francisco Division Controller, San Francisco District Post Office Operations Manager and Eastern Area Finance Manager. She was named Northern Ohio District Manager in 2000.

Her strong focus on service excellence, employee development, customer satisfaction and budget earned her the Vice Presidents Award in 2002 and 2003, and, most recently, the Postmaster General Award in 2006. Ainsworth received a bachelor's degree in business from the University of Montana and a master's in business administration from the University of Phoenix.
