New Technology Will Bring Changes to Preparation and Processing

ARLINGTON, VA - Change is on the horizon for mail processing and mailers don't want to be in the dark. The FSS Symposium will shine a light on the new processing technology for flat mail and some of the changes it will bring.

Sweeping changes in the way the Postal Service processes flat mail are coming. The new Flats Sequencing System (FSS) technology will process, distribute and deliver flats large envelopes, magazines, catalogs and circulars - more efficiently, just as the letter sorting systems have done for the past two decades.

The FSS Symposium on Tuesday, May 20, is a must-attend for mailers of periodicals, catalogs and other flat mail. A series of education blocks and panel discussions deliver an in-depth understanding of the FSS technology and help mailers prepare for this dramatic transformation.

"While most PostCom members are familiar of the new flat sorting technology, many mailers out there are not aware of the coming changes," said Kate Muth, PostCom vice president. "I highly encourage mailers to attend the full-day FSS Symposium."

This symposium is aimed at expanding knowledge around the flats sorting technology and educating and engaging stakeholders as they prepare for the rapid changes coming with the sequencing of flat mail. A series of education blocks and panel discussions in this symposium will:

  • Provide a full understanding of the FSS technology;
  • share the vision for the future of flats processing;
  • and engage mailers in an interactive exchange of ideas and candid discussions with members of the mailing industry and key decision makers in the Postal Service.

Speakers at this symposium will include William Galligan, Postal Service senior vice president of operations, and Walter O'Tormey, vice president of engineering for the Postal Service.

If you are a mailer of periodicals, catalogs, other flat mail, or a mail service provider, you will want to attend the flats symposium to ensure your company or organization can reap the maximum benefits possible and prepare for the transformation that is coming this fall.

This all-day session will be held on Tuesday May 20 at the Anaheim Hilton in the Pacific Ballroom B. To register, visit www.npf.org/reg15. You can learn more about the National Postal Forum, being held May 18-21, in Anaheim, CA, by visiting www.npf.org.
