The new Postmaster General, Pat Donahoe, was sworn into office. He eliminated all of the Senior Vice President positions and flattened out the organization resulting in a 20% reduction in management. The entire USPS systems staff now report up through Information Technology, instead of two different departments. Mr. Donahoe stated that his goal is to be more customer friendly. "Working together as an industry, we can address continuing economic challenges in a way that allows the Postal Service to generate much needed revenue while being more responsive to ongoing customer needs," Donahoe said.
