WASHINGTON, D.C. (October 17, 2011) - The Trust for the National Mall announced today that it has named Robert Pincus, Vice Chairman, EagleBank and Eagle Bancorp, and James Jaska, President, Americas and Government, AECOM Technology Corporation, as the Co-Chairs of its Corporate Committee.
The Corporate Committee will play a key role in the Trust's campaign to restore the National Mall by building and strengthening partnerships with corporations in the Washington region and across America. As Co-Chairs, Pincus and Jaska will raise critical funds for the organization by engaging corporate partners for special events, projects and programs outlined by the Trust and the National Mall Plan.
"Robert and James are renowned leaders in the business community," said Caroline Cunningham, President of the Trust for the National Mall. "Their leadership and expertise will be invaluable as we work together to make the National Mall the best park in the world."
In addition to his position with EagleBank, Pincus serves as Chairman of the Board of Blackstreet Capital Management, a private equity firm, and as Chairman of Milestone Merchant Partners, an investment bank. Previously, he was Chairman of Fidelity & Trust Bank and Regional President of BB&T, DC Metro Region. Pincus holds an MBA from American University.
Pincus has served as a Trustee of American University; a member of the Board of Trustees for the National Children's Museum; Chairman of the George Washington University Cancer Center; and served on the boards of numerous non-profit organizations. He was named one of Washingtonian Magazine's "1998 Washingtonians of the Year" and was elected to the "Washington Business Hall of Fame" in 2004.
As President of AECOM's Americas and Government group, Jaska oversees the company's America's operations and the worldwide operations of its Government Group. Combined, these operations represent more than 60 percent of AECOM's total revenue. Prior to joining AECOM, Jaska served as President of Tetra Tech, Inc., a global provider of professional technical services, and held operations and management positions with defense firm Alliant Techsystems, Inc., and Honeywell, Inc., a Fortune 100 technology and manufacturing company.
An active community leader, Jaska serves on the Board of the California Science Center, LA International Affairs Council and Long Lake Conservation Foundation, and volunteers for United Way. He holds a Master of Science degree from Western Illinois University and completed Harvard University's Executive Management Program.
The National Park Service estimates that the National Mall, which hosts 25 million visitors annually, requires $400 million for deferred maintenance and an additional $300 million in improvements to meet visitor needs. To date, the Trust for the National Mall has leveraged nearly $9 million in private funds to $70 million in federal funds for restoration projects on the National Mall. Since its inception 18 months ago, the Corporate Committee has raised nearly $1 million and engaged more than 100 corporate sponsors for the Trust's Annual Benefit Luncheon. The 2012 Luncheon will be held on May 3rd on the National Mall.
