Postal Explorer (pe.usps.com) is your source for up-to-date mailing standards. The Domestic Mail Manual is fully searchable on Postal Explorer and features fly-out menus, cross-reference links, and an extensive subject index. Today we updated our mailing standards with the following changes:
Intelligent Mail Tray Labels and Container Placards
We added new standards for Intelligent Mail tray labels and container placards to help mailers transition to the full-service use of Intelligent Mail technology. The new standards provide an optional format for tray labels, and allow mailers to use Intelligent Mail tray labels and container placards in advance of the May 2009 implementation date. We added the new standards to 235.4.0, 245.4.0, 335.4.0, 345.4.0, 365.4.0, 705.8.0, and 708.6.0.
Priority Mail Commercial Base Pricing
We revised the standards for Priority Mail commercial base prices in 423.1.0, 424.1.0, 424.2.0, and 425.3.0. The new standards remove the electronic Confirmation Services requirement for mailers using permit imprint. On flat-size pieces, these mailers may use a POSTNET or an Intelligent Mail barcode, instead of a postal routing barcode, to claim the commercial base prices.
Express Mail Corporate Accounts
We revised 414.2.0 to add Automated Clearing House (ACH) debit as a new method of payment for Express Mail Corporate Account customers. We also eliminated the option to open new local trust accounts with cash or check.
Parcel Select Markings
We updated the marking requirements for Parcel Select in 402.2.0 and 455.1.8to reflect the expanded definition in the May 2008 pricing change. See 453.2.0 and 453.3.0 for more information about Parcel Select service.
Labeling Lists
We revised the labeling lists to reflect changes in mail processing operations.
Our next scheduled DMM update is November 6.
