Brazil Post will be hosting the World Mail & Express Americas event when it returns in February, 2013, laying out its bold ambitions to expand both domestically and on the international stage.

The popular conference and exhibition is returning to Brazil at a time when the country is experiencing something of a transformation, with booming economic growth and upward social mobility ahead of the country's staging of both the FIFA World Cup in 2014 and the Olympic Games in 2016.

Brazil Post president Wagner Pinheiro de Oliveira will be headlining a strong line-up of speakers as events get underway on February 26.

Building on the strong economic potential, the Brazilian national postal service has been given new powers by the federal government to launch activities abroad and, for the first time, to acquire other companies as it looks to expand into new business areas.

At February's event Oliveira is expected to discuss the opportunities he sees for Brazil Post and the industry in this new era of modernization, and as ecommerce grows in Latin America and beyond.

World Mail and Express delegates will also be able to hear firsthand from the likes of Pablo Montané Alliende, director-general of Chile Post, which has been pioneering the use of automated parcel terminals to transform his country's ecommerce industry, and also from the director-general of Uruguay Post, José Luis Juárez Brambillasca, and the director-general of Panama Post, Dalila Mosquera Moreno.

With close cultural and commercial ties between Brazil and Portugal, delegates will also hear from the director-general of Correios de Portugal, Francisco de de Lacerda, whose company is facing the challenges of market liberalization and the prospect of privatization.

Delivery - the Universal challenge

The next World Mail & Express Americas event is taking place under the theme "Delivery - the universal challenge", and is being held at the Windsor Barra Hotel in Rio de Janeiro on 26th to 28th February.

The venue is in the heart of the Barra de Tijuca area, facing directly onto the beautiful beach of Tijuca.

Neil Jackson, the Triangle chief executive said: "This will be our 10th World Mail & Express Americas and attendees will benefit from our knowledge and connections with North, South, Central America and the Caribbean regions.

"The event also attracts select expertise from the rest of the world and together we will examine how existing experience and innovative foresight can be applied in this vibrant and diverse global region."

Other speakers on the World Mail & Express Americas line-up will include Augusta Reimão, president of Associação Brasileira das Empresas de Distribuição (ABRAED), the Brazilian delivery operators association, Alfredo Javier Perez, the postal services manager of Argentina's regulator, the Comision Nacional de Comunicaciones, and Marcela Maron, president elect of the UPU Consultative Committee.

Delegates can take advantage of an "early bird" discount when booking during the month of December 2012.
