WASHINGTON, D.C., Jan. 12, 2012 -- Members of the expedited delivery industry are enthusiastically signing up for their industry's Lobby Day on Tuesday, February 28, 2012. Over 30 companies have already signed up during the pre-registration period, which ends Feb. 3. Sponsored by the Messenger Courier Association of America (MCAA), this year's event is expected to put special emphasis on establishing clear criteria on the use of independent contractors. It will bring members of the industry together with their local representatives to discuss issues of mutual interest in support of business growth.

MCAA members explain to their legislators how the same-day delivery industry keeps the wheels of commerce rolling in North America. Each year they bring their issues, concerns and the need for action to their representatives in Washington. "This year, it is particularly important that we make our voices heard on Capitol Hill about the need for clear criteria for the use of independent contractors," says MCAA Government Affairs Chair, John Benko. "Without clear guidance for the use of ICs, our industry and many others will continue to be stymied in their ability to stimulate the business environment. MCAA has been reaching out to other industry associations over the last several months work with an active coalition of those struggling with this issue. We need all of our members to reach out to legislators about this and other issues that are critical to business growth. We urge anyone with a business interest in the expedited delivery industry to register and participate in these efforts to tell our story on Capitol Hill."

On Monday, February 27, participants in MCAA's Lobby Day will meet for a pre-event networking reception at the Washington Marriott. At 7:30 the next morning, they will participate in educational sessions and spend the rest of the day holding scheduled meetings with key congressional members from their states.

Pre-registration is required and advised before February 3. The registration cost of $150 includes Monday's reception and Tuesday's breakfast.
