New Mailing Standards for International Shipping Services

On usps.com/prices we posted an advance copy of the Federal Register notice supporting the May 12 mailing standards changes for international shipping services: Express Mail International and Priority Mail International. The notice details the requirements to qualify for new commercial base and commercial volume pricing.

New Address Standards for Presorted, Carrier Route, and Automation Flats

An advance copy of the Federal Register notice changing the address standards for flat-size mail is now available on Postal Explorer. The new standards are effective on March 29, 2009, and require mailers to place the delivery address in the top half of all Periodicals, Standard Mail, Bound Printed Matter, Media Mail, and Library Mail flat-size pieces mailed at automation, presorted, or carrier route prices. Additional formatting standards apply to all commercial flats.

The Domestic Mail Manual (DMM) is available on Postal Explorer (pe.usps.com). To subscribe to the DMM Advisory, send an e-mail to dmmadvisory@usps.com. Simply indicate "subscribe" in the subject line.
