Major enhancements to the PostalOne! system are coming July 13. That's when the Postal Service releases the latest software update version 17.0 for the Web-based suite of services that USPS and business mailers use for electronic documentation, mail verification and postage payment.

This software release includes a new PostalOne! feature automatic password reset as well as improvements to existing applications, including support for the new version of Mail.dat, enhanced reporting for Periodicals and additional electronic Verification System (eVS) options.

Here are highlights:

External Password Reset

A daily, automated process will check for expiring passwords. Customers will get an e-mail notification 20 days, then seven days, before a password is due to expire. Also, customers who need to establish or change a password will be asked a security question.

Mail.dat

There will be a new version of Mail.dat, the electronic file transfer option. Version 08-2 includes changes to data entry fields and business descriptions. PostalOne! will continue to support versions 07-1 and 08-1 along with version 08-2.

Periodicals Enhancements

eporting methods for Periodicals will be enhanced, specifically the edition weight worksheet, advertising percentage worksheet, and Periodicals and pending Periodicals postage statements.

VS

eVS, which allows high-volume package mailers and consolidators to document and pay postage, now will support end-to-end manifest file transfer. Mailers will have the option to provide a "transaction ID" to uniquely identify manifests as they move through the Product Tracking System/eVS environment.
