Parascript, LLC, the image analysis and pattern recognition technology provider, today announced that Rocky Mountain Mail Services (RMMS) has integrated Engineering Innovation's EZ Flats System with Parascript's AddressScript CM, Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software.
RMMS has used Parascript technology on their BÖWE BELL + HOWELL's PTI High-Speed Multi Line Optical Character Reader for many years with excellent results. Recently when searching for a solution to presort and comingle flats, RMMS selected Engineering Innovation's EZ-Flats which incorporates ParascriptAddressScript CM as a single OCR engine. EZ-Flats has become the ideal solution for obtaining greater postage discounts and efficiency in processing flat size mail at RMMS'
"The EZ-Flats system with Parascript's AddressScript CM OCR technology is absolutely the most efficient and cost-effective system for confirming deliverability and earning the maximum postage discounts on First-Class letters and flats as well as standard letters,"â said Erik Hansen, general manager for RMMS. Since its installation, the EZ-Flats OCR Lite system has achieved address recognition and interpretation rates of approximately 95 percent of both printed and handwritten addresses. EZ-Flats also assigns each individual mail piece with its own unique ID number and delivery barcode allowing for tracking of mailpieces while sorting for the maximum discount level.
Before implementing EZ-Flats with Parascript's AddressScript CM, RMMS was manually processing this type of mail and not able to earn the maximum discounts. After purchasing the solution, RMMS was able to obtain postage discounts of at least $500, and up to $1,000 of dollars per week. RMMS also found EZ-Flats processing increased customer satisfaction all while maintaining a minimum amount of investment risk.

Both letter and flat-size mail processing rely on Parascript's AddressScript CM technology to read handwritten and printed addresses, and to confirm address deliverability and allow application of delivery point barcodes to mailpieces provided by RMMS' customers.
