The Telegram & Gazette told its readers that "In something of a miracle, postal regulators this past week denied a request from the U.S. Postal Service to hike its rates yet again come January 1. The regulators decided that the USPS hadn't made its case for pushing rates still higher - and well above the rate of inflation. And here's the miraculous part: The regulators blamed the post office's woes on neither the economy nor regulations, but a failed business model. If the post office wants to compete in the modern economy, it must do so without special perks and privileges.
