Postal Explorer (pe.usps.com) is your source for up-to-date mailing standards. The Domestic Mail Manual is fully searchable on Postal Explorer and features fly-out menus, cross-reference links, and an extensive subject index. Today we updated our mailing standards to capture the following changes:
Priority Mail Large Flat-Rate Box
We revised 123.1.0 and 703.2.1 to add the new Priority Mail Large Flat-Rate Box. The new box holds 50 percent more than the current box and is priced at $12.95 for domestic shipments. A special $2 discount is available for shipments to military (APO/FPO) addresses.
Premium Forwarding Service
We added 507.3.0 and deleted 709.4.0 to make Premium Forwarding Service (PFS) a permanent mail classification. PFS lets residential customers reship virtually all of their mail from their permanent address to a temporary address once a week via Priority Mail.
Express Mail Sunday/Holiday Delivery Premium
We revised 113.1.0 and 705.2.6.3 to add a premium of $12.50, in addition to current postage, for guaranteed Sunday or holiday delivery of Express Mail items. Customers may also choose guaranteed delivery on the next delivery day at the standard Express Mail price.
Priority Mail Deposit
We revised 604.4.5.3 to clarify the standards for Priority Mail deposit when postage is affixed through a postage evidencing system, such as a postage meter or a PC Postage product.
Express Mail and Priority Mail Reshipment Service
We revised 507.6.6, 507.11.7, and 705.17.0 to remove a restriction on mail that can be gathered by the Postal Service before delivery and reshipped via Express Mail and Priority Mail reshipment service.
Enhanced
We clarified the basic standards for letter-size enhanced carrier route Standard mail in 243.6.1.2.
