Post&Parcel--An influential US Congressman has issued an initial draft of a postal reform bill designed to save the US Postal Service from "complete insolvency".

Darrell Issa, the chairman of the House Oversight Committee, released the discussion document yesterday, proposing to cut Saturday mail delivery in order to save the struggling Postal Service around $2bn a year in operating costs, and phase out doorstep delivery in favour of street side and community mailbox delivery in order to save a further $4bn a year in costs.
